What am I missing...?

Look over in the right-hand column, scroll down to the last section.  I am putting together a packing list of must-haves for my marathon trip to Milwaukee.  Anyone have any suggestions for anything to use before/during/after race...things missing, things I'll regret not having...?

  2. Ooh, smart! I should just do a general first-aid kit!

Heh, this reminds me of the wedding day kits, only without hairspray and clear nail polish...

    :p

  4. Just in case the weather is a little on the chilly side at the start either a garbage bag, or a junk long sleeve t-shirt or sweatshirt that you can take off a leave.

Also, just to be on the safe side, bring whatever "morning of" food you plan to eat just in case you can't find it once you get there.

  5. Yep, I have a big fleecy top with a broken zipper that I will probably wear. It's pretty worthless now, anyhow.

I have been wondering how to handle breakfast. Our room may not have a microwave...I've wondered if I should try to haul a toaster along or maybe do cold cereal. It's tricky, since I'm used to eggs and bagel for pre-race breakfast.

There is continental breakfast at the hotel, but I'm not sure what time they start that--probably later than I'd be eating.

  6. If the hotel has a continental breakfast, most likely they have a microwave and/or toaster. You might just call and check. I would try to stick to what you've been having for your pre-race meal if you can as you know it works.

  7. Ahhh...good point. I hadn't even thought about the public-access toaster & microwave. I still wouldn't be able to fry up an egg, but I've eaten those frozen biscuit/egg/cheese/bacon sandwiches before and they've worked well for me. I could bring a couple of those in a cooler and nuke in the AM.

Thanks for that suggestion. Race day breakfast just got a lot easier. Plus we'll be eating "breakfast for dinner" the night before (I've been doing that for the last year or so before races and it's worked well), so maybe I'll have leftovers to reheat, too.
